Doctor Who Continues to Invade America

In what is probably related to the show's filming in the US (which according to this document (via GallifreyBase) the starts its principal photography in Utah tomorrow), Craig Ferguson is having Matt Smith (the current Doctor) on as a guest tonight.  In preperation, he had another special guest yesterday evening.

If you'd told 12 year old American me who desperately tried to get any little sliver of information about Doctor Who and held on to all of it with dear life (like the time I saved a copy of a clue when it was on Jeopardy), that he had to set up his TiVo because the guy who played the Doctor was going to be a guest on an American network talk show on the night after a Dalek made an appearance, he would have freaked the fuck out.

(He also would have been damn impressed about the TiVo.)

The Only Question That MUST Be Answered in the Last Two Episodes of #LOST

(no matter what all the other Internet idiocy tells you)

How does this story end?

By which I mean:

• Does anyone else die? (since it turns out death is more permanent on the island than we used to think)
• Does anyone now on the island get off the island?
• Does anyone replace Jacob?

That's all.  While many questions have been answered in interesting ways (see: Adam and Eve last week, though your mileage may vary on that one), any other question can properly be answered by the information we've been given - especially if you are capable of logical and creative thought and have seen every minute that has been presented to you over the past 6 years.

American TV fans need to learn something that Doctor Who fans learned long enough.  Once you start involving time travel and alternate reality -- any theory you as an educated fan make up, as long as it doesn't contradict something we've been told on screen, is just barely a less valid answer than what you've been told. 

So anything else the team behind Lost decides to tell us between now and Sunday at 11/10 Central is cake, but there's nothing else we MUST know (even by the slightly warped definition of "MUST" used by  salivating fans)  Anything else we learn -- while still being entertained -- is cake.

New Tool Test

This is a test message using the Performancing Firefox extension. If it works as well as it looks, I'm WAY impressed -- and it's also going to be pretty helpful if/when I try to start ever hosting this site myself again.

I use gmail for my regular email and have none of the privacy concerns that others do.  (It's not that I'm not paranoid -- I'm actually ULTRA-paranoid and figure if the CPD, FBI, DOJ, CTU, SD-6 wants to get my emails, they'll find a way easier than smacking Google with a subpoena.)  In fact, I love it when gmail scans my email and gives me amusing suggestions in the Sponsored Links.

For example, in discussing arrangements for a possible pizza party before the Killers show tonight, I told my partners-in-corporate-pop-punk-rock that meeting them in Boystown made no sense as the show is so close to my place (see logo above); since I had to go home to change anyway, I wouldn't have time to go north-south-north. 

And what does the great Google oracle suggest?  The Killers CD?  Ticketmaster?  Little Caesar's?

The Dark Side of Merchandising

I never thought I'd want a lawn again.

On Tatooine, Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru bust their ass as moisture farmers while raising Anakin's whining Jedi spawn, and here's Vader, spinning around on a mini-Death Star, spraying valuable water all over the place.  Truly a bastard.
